This tournament is a Provincial Youth Championship and an essential bridge from school or club shooting into the tournament stream. No trials are required to qualify. Open to all archers who have an Archery Ontario Membership, including the year they turn 21. Whatever your skill level, The Junior Challenge is a great event to test your skills, make some new archery friends and plan for future archery events!

The Junior Challenge provides young archers an opportunity to enhance their competitive skills and develop strategies for future success. It is an excellent training tool for the Ontario Summer Games, Ontario, Outdoor, Provincial Target Championships, and Archery Canada National Championships, including the National Outdoor Target Championship, the Canada Cup East and the Canada Cup West.

Format

(Practice at Algoma Rod and Gun Club, 226 Connor Rd will be made available Thursday from 3-8 pm and all day Friday)

Friday

  • Fun Mixed Team Event  5 to 8 pm (Practice field will be open beforehand if ready or in conjunction with the event)
  • 3 Person Teams May be Adult and Youth mix; at least one member must be registered for the Junior Challenge Event
  • All Categories shoot 50m on 122cm face (Handicaps for certain categories)
  • 4 minutes for the team to alternate turns shooting 2 arrows each (Similar to Fred Usher Match)
  • Round Robin, groups depend on the number of teams

Saturday

  • Double 720 – 8 am Opening Ceremonies, 8:30 am Practice Start, 720 in Morning, 1hr lunch, 720 in Afternoon

Sunday

  • Match Play (Style TBD) – 8 am Practice Start
  • Equipment check on-site Friday evening /Saturday AM
  • Lunch is available on site (Sat and Sun), Restaurants and Canteen close by in Arena and on street

Equipment and Age

  • Compound – includes fingers or release, pins or scopes
  • Recurve - sighted
  • Barebow – unsighted recurve
  • U13 Compound 30m, U15 Compound 40m, U18/U21 Compound 50m. All Compounds may shoot either a full or cut-down 80cm Target face.
  • U13 Recurve 30m, U15 Recurve 50m, U18 Recurve 60m, U21 Recurve 70m. All Recurve shoot a full 122cm Target face.
  • U13 Barebow 30m, U15 Barebow 40m, U18/U21 Barebow 50m. All Barebow shoot a full 122cm Target face
