National Coaching Certification Program

National Coaching Certification Program

Are you looking for a Coach?

When starting in archery, ensuring you have the basics nailed is of ultimate importance. These can be learned on your own but having a coach who knows archery will ensure this happens at a faster rate. The Ontario Association of Archers in association with Archery Canada and the National Coaching Certification Program (N.C.C.P) conduct coach certification programs in Ontario. We pride ourselves on having some of the best trained coaches at any level in Canada.

Gaining access to coaches can easily be done via our Coach Directory found at the bottom of this page

The National Coaching Certification Program (NCCP), launched in 1974 and delivered in partnership with the government of Canada, provincial/territorial governments, and national/provincial/territorial sport organizations, gives coaches the confidence to succeed.

NCCP It begins here

Who is it for?

NCCP workshops are designed for all types of coaches. Whether you are thinking about coaching your local archer at your club or you are already the head coach of a national team, the NCCP has workshops to meet your needs.

Click here for an overview of the NCCP Model.

How much time does it take?

NCCP training doesn't require much time. Individual workshops can be completed in a single evening, and some workshops can now be taken online at your convenience or via home-study.

Where do I start?
The National Coaching Certification Program makes it easy to get started and stay motivated on the path towards coaching skills development. Read through the following pages to find the path that's right for you!

The Coaching Program is Canada is geared toward coaches who are looking to train athletes with intention of advancing to competition

Coach for Competition

Competition-Introduction Coach: Tailored for coaches that wish to work with athletes of all ages who have an interest in advancing to competition, this workshop will introduce them to coach education as well as equipment and training issues. They will learn to plan a practice, analyze performance, prepare their athletes for competition, develop practice plans, and promote athlete development.

Instructor Lessons

Instructor of Beginner Archers: By presenting several mini-lessons and demonstrations, as well as observing interventions during shooting throughout the course of this workshop, coaches/instructors will be prepared to introduce archery to athletes in a variety of settings, including: clubs, camps, schools, and other organized activities.

Instructor of Intermediate Archers: Designed for coaches/instructors already involved in a club or organized archery program, this workshop will refine the basic archery skills and introduce a variety of more complex techniques for athletes who already have some experience and who exhibit a fair degree of proficiency in the sport. Customizing instructions based on the individual characteristics of each participant and managing big groups of athletes will also be covered.
